History
In 2014 Casey and Camie Herod founded Double H Outfitters. Both of them were born and raised in Moffat County. Growing up here meant, starting in their early childhood, they were involved in some aspect of hunting. Casey’s grandpa was an avid hunter who guided in the area for several years. He taught Casey how to hunt successfully. In addition to Moffat County, Casey has also hunted in many states in the U.S., He’s also been on hunts in Canada and New Zealand. Casey started mountain lion hunting when he was in high school and has 20 professionally trained lion dogs to hunt with. Casey now serves as the General Manager for Double H, overseeing all hunting and land management operations.
Camie’s father guided for the same family on Williams Fork, in southeast Moffat County, for 25+ years. Every weekend as a kid she would spend at hunting camp either on horseback with her dad and hunters or in the lodge helping her mom prepare meals or visiting with the hunters. While she was in college she came home several weekends during hunting season to see her family and help around camp anyway she could. Today, as Double H’s Administration Manager, Camie keeps everything from bookings, to accounting, to client services running smoothly.
Guides
Our team of guides are knowledgeable, avid hunters here to help make your hunt enjoyable and successful. Most of them were born and raised in the area and know the terrain, wildlife habitat, and herd migration very well. They are certified in CPR and First Aid. Each of our guides has also signed the Double H Outfitters Code of Ethics as a commitment to providing high-quality, safe, and productive hunts. This team is lead by Casey and our head guide, Grant Jones.
Head Guide – Oak Creek – Grant Jones
Grant Jones’s passion for hunting brought the Michigan native to Moffat County 20 years ago. He has been guiding professionally with Casey since moving to Craig and has a tremendous amount of experience and knowledge.
Whether its big game or mountain lion season, Grant has been asset to the Double H team since the beginning and is our head guide in Oak Creek. In his spare time you will find Grant hunting with his son or at Flaming Gorge Lake fishing with his family.
Owners
In 2019 Paul Harter fulfilled a bucket list item by hunting with his son Andrew at Double H. He was so impressed with the operation that he started a conversation with Casey and Camie about being part of Double H. That led to Paul buying the company in 2020.
Along with being an avid hunter, Paul also has a successful track record as a business person and entrepreneur. Together with his lovely wife Laura, Paul is working with Casey and Camie to ensure Double H’s place as the premier outfitting service in Colorado.
