Outfitting & Guiding

Advising

Our service to you starts with your first email or phone call. We can offer expert advice in your planning process for a big game hunt in northwestern Colorado. This includes giving you tips on navigating the often-confusing process of applying for licenses, understanding nonresident requirements, as well as offering tips on weapons and gear.

Licensing

In many hunting areas, it can be difficult to get licenses. Through our landowner relationships, we can help you purchase landowner vouchers. These enable you to buy a license without waiting to accumulate points through the Colorado draw system.

Guiding

Guide services include getting you safely within range of your target animal, field dressing that animal after your harvest, and recovering it from the field. We’ll then transport the animal to a meat processor. Our guides work hard for you so please tip accordingly. The standard is 10-15% of your hunt value.

Processing

Double H has a great relationship with Mountain Meat in Craig. We also work well with H&H Processing in Meeker. Either of these excellent companies can process and package your animal, along with offering specialty products like sausage and jerky. Please note that we do not allow animal processing at any of our lodging sites. If you want to do this yourself, we’ll be happy to load you up for the trip home.

Trophy Care

For taxidermy, we typically recommend Mountain Man Taxidermy in Craig. If you visit our headquarters in Craig, you’ll see some of their work. Mountain Meat and Mountain Man Taxidermy work well together, giving you seamless service from processing through mounting.

Shipping

If you need shipping for meat or trophies, we can provide you with suggestions and recommendations.

Meals & Housekeeping

We offer clean, comfortable rooms with full amenities. Our cooks are top notch. Depending on where and how you hunt, we offer three meals a day with snacks and refreshments in between. If your hunt keeps you away from the lodge all day, we’ll make sure you have a good sack lunch, snacks, and drinks along for the trip. Please remember to tip our cooking staff.
